Edmonds-based construction company earns the highest level of recognition in The Seattle Times’ 2026 Best in the PNW awards
EDMONDS, WA — September 20, 2026 — Chermak Construction is celebrating an extraordinary first year in The Seattle Times’ Best in the PNW awards, earning Gold — the highest level of recognition — in two categories: Handyman Services and Custom Homebuilder.
For its first year being nominated in the Best in the PNW program, Chermak was recognized in five categories, including:
Gold — Handyman Services
Gold — Custom Homebuilder
Bathroom Remodeler
Deck & Patio
Kitchen Remodeler
The achievement is a significant milestone for the Edmonds-based company, which has been serving homeowners throughout the greater Seattle area since 1980.
Recognition That Comes From the Community
Best in the PNW is an annual awards program presented by The Seattle Times that recognizes businesses, organizations and professionals serving communities throughout Snohomish, King and Pierce counties. What makes the program particularly meaningful to Chermak is that the winners are determined through community participation. The process begins with community members nominating the businesses and professionals they believe deserve recognition across hundreds of categories. Businesses that advance to the finalist stage then compete in a public online voting period.
Finalists receiving the highest number of votes are recognized with Gold, Silver or Bronze awards, with Gold representing the highest level of recognition.
The 2026 winners are announced through The Seattle Times’ Best in the PNW Winner’s Magazine, accompanying the Sunday, September 20 edition of the newspaper, along with promotion through the Best in the PNW digital platform and The Seattle Times’ related channels.
For Chermak Construction, the significance goes beyond adding another award to its history. The recognition came from the very communities and homeowners the company has spent more than four decades serving.
“Being nominated in five categories in our very first year was an incredible honor. To then receive Gold in two of those categories is something our entire team is extremely proud of,” said Noah France, President of Chermak Construction. “What makes it even more meaningful is knowing that these awards came from people in the communities we serve. Our business has always been built on relationships, trust and doing great work for our clients. To have our community recognize us in this way means a tremendous amount to our team.”
From the Smallest Repair to the Most Ambitious Build
Chermak’s two gold awards also reflect the breadth of work the company provides to homeowners. Its Handyman Services recognition represents Chermak’s commitment to helping homeowners tackle projects of all sizes — from repairs and maintenance to improvements that make homes safer, more functional and better suited to the people who live in them. Its Custom Homebuilder Gold award recognizes the company’s experience with larger, highly customized construction projects that require careful planning, design, project management and craftsmanship from beginning to end.
Together, the two awards showcase the range of Chermak’s work. “One of the things we are most proud of is that we can work with homeowners on projects across the entire spectrum,” “whether it’s a smaller home repair, a kitchen or bathroom remodel, or a complex custom home, our goal is the same — to provide an exceptional experience and deliver work our clients can be proud of.”
A Legacy Built on Trust
Founded in 1980, Chermak Construction has spent more than 46 years building its reputation throughout Edmonds and the greater Seattle area. The company’s approach brings together design expertise, experienced project management and skilled field professionals, allowing homeowners to work with one team throughout the construction process. Over the years, Chermak has earned recognition from organizations and publications throughout the remodeling and construction industry, including the Master Builders Association, Building Industry Association of Washington, Chrysalis Awards and Qualified Remodeler. The company’s latest recognition in Best in the PNW is especially significant because it comes directly from public participation.
“Awards are always exciting, but this one feels different,” France said. “Our clients and our community took the time to nominate us and vote for us. That is something we don’t take for granted.” Chermak Construction is extending its gratitude to everyone who participated in the Best in the PNW voting process and to the homeowners who have trusted the company with their homes throughout the years. “To everyone who nominated Chermak, voted for us and trusted us with your home — thank you,” France said. “Your votes. Your trust. Our gratitude.
