2017 Featured Awards

National Chrysalis Award winner for 2017. This beautiful design provides for a warm and welcoming Pacific Northwest retreat.

BEFORE: Sterile looking tile on walls and floors. Functional but not beautiful. Several area rugs in the bathroom due to cold floors.

Luxurious free standing tub, glass surround shower enclosure, earthy tile and beach pebbles bring the outdoors to the indoors.

Distinctive barn door style rollers are both practical and beautiful. Note again the pebble look on the shower wall.

Stainless steel Kohler, wall mount tub filler adds flair.

Kohler hand-held shower on slide bar and Mirabelle shower head.

Cold tile floors were replaced with "wood look" heated Cappella Java floor tile.

After removing the wall and fireplace, ceilings were removed, new beams and skylights were installed to create an open and light space. The resulting kitchen is a joy to work in. | Kitchen Remodeling Edmonds

Remodeling Excellence (REX) Award for Major Remodel/Whole House Excellence

We were honored to be able to do this commercial build out for the new California Closets location on South Lake Union.

Space was originally occupied by a bank where a low ceiling provided a sense of privacy.

Front of the multi-story building that would house the new South Lake Union California Closets home.

Structural steel that will support the new mezzanine. Caution had to be taken to not impact the "stress cables" embedded in the floor so as not to disturb any of the upper level businesses.

Completed mezzanine level with metal and wood railing.

New Design Center space for helping clients make selections.

This Murphy bed display helps to fuel ideas for customers.

2015 Featured Awards

Our team created this project with open-air living and sheltered connections to the outside. Both the front and back of the house have large covered porches adorned with exterior finish details. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

BEFORE: The home owners wanted the design to reflect a sense of permanence and style akin to some Southern Coastal Beach Homes they had seen. Their dated 1930's retreat was demolished with the exception of the upper story loft area. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

BEFORE: Original access to the front of the house was via a treacherous set of stairs on the lake side. Our designer proposed a completely new approach which the client loved! | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

The new approach was a highly engineered foot bridge which now provides access to the entry/foyer of the home. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

To the left of the entry/foyer is an open living room and southern style covered porch. The double French doors can be left open to catch the summer breezes off of the Lake. In the winter, it is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

From the upstairs living room area a well-designed staircase flows down to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen window looks out over the lake and a red brick masonry BBQ station. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

This masonry BBQ station is topped with granite. Using the gas BBQ and the circular EVO the chef can toss pancakes at daybreak or turn kabobs and burgers for a crowd in any weather. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

Other exterior hardscape finishes include: cement curbing and stairs and a large red-brick paver patio. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Seattle

BIAW Excellence Award for Entire House Remodel

Our client requested a cozy, comfortable place where he could make music to share with family and the many guests they entertained.

In the new Music Room, 5-panel glass, French style, sliding doors provide the opportunity for a bit of seclusion if that is the mood.

Carpeting, and the wood burning fireplace were removed. The popcorn ceiling was gutted to the studs.

The existing chimney was relined to accept gas and appropriate mechanical ventilation, duct work, gas lines and a new gas fire place were installed.

The new foyer/entry was designed in a structural niche just right of the garage. It provides a vertical and horizontal integration and serves as an interior entry transition space. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Shoreline

The highly crafted stair railing at the entry and new access to the second floor was engineered to include a metal under structure to meet code and prevent warping. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Shoreline

BEFORE: Our clients put a kitchen remodel on the top of their list. To save money we made very few structural changes and kept doorways and windows in the original locations. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Shoreline

An expanded kitchen floor plan integrates the kitchen and living area. Shaker style cabinets with "Autumn" stain and light toned quartz countertops balance the darker tones found elsewhere in the home. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Shoreline

We were asked to create and Outdoor Living Space that integrated with their newly remodeled craftsman kitchen. They wanted the kitchen to be just steps away from the BBQ and the party! | Decks and Outdoor Living Richmond Beach

BEFORE: In design we wanted to avoid a flat roof structure, but had to adhere to the constraints of the pitch of the home's existing roofline. | Decks and Outdoor Living Richmond Beach | Decks and Outdoor Living Richmond Beach

The new structure is 400 sq. ft. with an 820 sq. ft. of artisan stamped concrete walkway. Above are twelve-foot cedar lined ceilings, dual venting sky lights and Bromic Platinum gas overhead heating units. | Decks and Outdoor Living Richmond Beach

Crown molding with stacked detail compliments the craftsman column design. Each of the columns have four 4" x 4" stained cedar pillars, cement bases, applied stone and cedar caps. | Decks and Outdoor Living Lake Forest Park

A massive floor-to-ceiling masonry fireplace is the cornerstone of the space. It is faced with Eldorado Stone. Mechanical venting installed within the chimney stack accommodates the reviled BBQ smoke. | Decks and Outdoor Living Lake Forest Park

Railing at the porch was a specialty order. It was chosen to represent turn-of-the-century design industrial aesthetic, particular to craftsman design. | Decks and Outdoor Living Lake Forest Park

REX Award and BIAW Award for Specialty Outdoor Living

Fixed glass panel and half shower walls maintain an open, spacious feeling while the open floor plan allows the couple to move through morning routines with ease. | Bathroom Remodeling Edmonds

Rich, ebony stained mill work and doors are balanced with white quartz floors. To the left is a walk-in closet and to the right is the commode. | Bathroom Remodeling Edmonds

A dual-sink vanity with upper cabinets and double mirrors has a medicine cabinet that is inset 2" into the non-bearing wall to provide more storage without intruding into the counter space. | Bathroom Remodeling Edmonds

Owners wish list included heated floors, a walk-in shower, foldup shower seat and improved lighting. Chermak's designer paired glass, natural stone and metallic-flecked tile for elegant results. | Bathroom Remodeling Edmonds

The biggest cost containment strategy was in making no changes in the locations of fixtures. | Bathroom Remodeling Edmonds

For design and practical reasons much of the foundation, basement slab, floor joists, hardwood flooring, existing main stairway, brick exterior, exterior framing, front door and the entry leaded/stained glass window were preserved. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Woodway

Details like richly patterned riser tiles in dense colors and intricate designs, and the dark stained reclaimed wood beams in the living room and dining rooms are what set this home apart. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Woodway

The remodeled kitchen with both painted and stained cabinetry offers generous prep surface countertops of butcher block and granite. The offset clay tile flooring and polished bronze farm sink reaffirm the Mediterranean vibe. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Woodway

The family room, on the other side of the kitchen, is detailed with arched alcoves, painted/stained cabinetry and shelving. It is the perfect place for the family and canine companion to hang out together. | Additions and Remodels Remodeling Woodway
